Another day, another early start. Children emerged from their increasingly messy rooms to start the day with a hearty breakfast. Many of the children have been thinking about making different choices at meal times, with lots of them opting for a healthier option (to make up for the extra sweets??).
Conrad - "It is really fun here and the food is great. I’m proud that I went on the giant swing as I get scared of heights."
Group 2 started the day with rifle shooting, and it was Logan’s time to shine! The children learned how to safely load and fire an air rifle at a target, and we were so proud of Logan’s aim. Daisy continued to be a great team member by encouraging others as she has done all weekend. Many of the children also have a souvenir of their target sheets - great participation.
Group 4 took on abseiling, where Phoebe took it all in her stride and Joshua E showed great courage to face his fear to come down, and also helped his peers to unclip themselves from the tower.
Isaac - "I felt I had achieved something when I leaned over the edge of the abseiling tower. My favourite activity was the giant swing because everybody worked together."
Group 7 took on Jacob’s ladder, and with a little encouragement from her teachers and friends, Elsie made it to the 7th rung - 3 above her target!
Children enjoyed their roast dinner at lunch time and also had some time playing games around their cabins. There was also a chance to practise the well loved PGL songs - please ask Y6 to sing the milk song or the pizza song upon their return!
Charlie - "I loved climbing the rock wall because it gave me a challenge."
Group 3 attacked the Zip Wire in the afternoon and we were so impressed by Chloe who was nervous to get going but ended up by wanting a second turn. Mr Ketley had the important job of raking the landing area and children took great pleasure in undoing his hard work at each landing!
Ayusha surprised group 4 by heading straight down the zip wire despite not being the biggest fan of the activities at height.
Group 5 enjoyed Jacob’s ladder and George impressed us with how he helped his group out by offering advice and support about where to put the rope or how to move higher.
After dinner, children visited the shop before enjoying a performance from their teachers as a reward for their hard work - it was a surprise how well known the Spice Girls still are!
Ellis - "The sensory trail was very scary at first but I persevered and when I took the blindfold off I realised that it wasn’t even scary at all but just a short obstacle course."
Our evening activity was Passport to the World, where children had to locate flags that were dotted around the PGL site - made all the more challenging in the dark. Children headed back to their cabins for the evening and started the long task of repacking their bags and tidying their rooms.
Year 6 have had a wonderful trip and many of them can’t believe that their time away is coming to an end. They have made us all so proud, bonded as a year group and developed so many skills and memories that will stick with them for life.
We look forward to seeing you all back at school tomorrow!
