Children settled well last night… the same could not be said for this morning as many were ready for the day by 5:30am!
After a hearty breakfast, children headed to their morning activities. Group 5 had abseiling and it was remarkable to see Hardik overcome some initial fears of going down the tower. Dean also had second thoughts at the top, before coming down with a huge smile on his face - the sense of pride was so clear!
Some groups took on the climbing tower and with plenty of encouragement from Mrs Hefferman Albie managed to get to the top… twice! Group 1 gave a great showing and referenced Gladiators in their attempts to scale the wall.

Mr Ketley commented on how well his group have bonded over the past couple of days. Aisling and Polly said that they already knew some of her friends through other clubs in school but they have started talking to even more children from other classes. Other groups have felt the same. Scarlett said, “I have got to know new people from my group that I didn’t know before. It has taught me that I know I can talk to other people, not just my friends. That will be so useful for secondary school.” Poppy said, “It has been a great experience for learning new skills like teamwork. When we did the Balloon Splash we had to communicate how many coins we had without others hearing. Overall, the giant swing has been the best thing so far.” Iris said, It’s really fun and I have had a great time. My favourite activity so far has been the giant swing because it was thrilling and it fills you with excitement. I went to the top on both goes!”

Mrs Thompson was so proud of Mia B for her attempts on abseiling. After getting up the tower and the going all the way back down to compose herself, she took some deep breaths and launched herself from the top, surprising Mrs Thompson at the bottom. Orienteering was a big hit for group 7 and 8 as they went out into the woods and used their maps (well done to the Freddie Frogs group for 10 markers in record time!).

Children have also been enjoying the time in their rooms. Fameedah said, “I am so pleased with who is my room but we couldn’t really sleep as were laughing so much.” Dexter said, “I like the bunk beds - they’re very comfy. Last night was good because I got to sleep with my friends - we didn’t really sleep much though!” Daisy said, “The food is delicious. I tried something new today - spicy chicken!” Storm agreed, “The salad bar is lovely - I’ve had something from it every day.”

Scott said, “The best thing so far has been the zip wire. The first time I went on it I was scared, but the second time I wasn’t. The handlebars on the zip line are helpful because you can grip on tight.” Rocco said, “I’ve conquered my fear of heights!” He thought he would only get half way up but made it all the way to the top. “I am now really looking forward to abseiling!” Jack is proud of his new skill of making fire from the Survival session. “Now I know how to use a flint and steel to make a fire. I am now ready if I ever get lost in the woods!”
Children enjoyed some new games in the PGL games this evening and were absolutely ready for bed after a busy day.
The final message is for all of our wonderful mums:
