Wentworth County Primary School was opened on Friday 13th April 1951.  The school was built in little over a year and was designed to accomodate 320 children.

Originally the school was a separate Infant and Junior School and these were amalgamated on 1st January 1999.

On the 1st February 2012, the school became an academy.

The school is proud of the achievments of its past pupils, including the following:

- Mick Jagger (International music artist)

- Keith Richards (International music artist)

- Graham Dilley (England cricketer)

- Adam Gemili (Olympic Sprinter)

In 2017, the Adam Gemili block was opened,  housing 8 new classrooms to support the school's growth.  Past pupil Adam Gemili attended the opening, spending time with the children.
